Had the same problem, and asked CCS what to do:

Sir,
Try renaming the devices.dat to deviceso.dat and the devicesp.dat to devices.dat in the compiler directory.

I got the same error, just delete the downloaded file and download it again. That helped for me...

After recieving a support email, where CCS told me about that little jumper inside the icd, defining if it will put 5V to the target or not, I decided to modify my ICD. I simply added a smal switch.

Something hit me... the adresses that are wrong, are pretty high. Aren't they? Maybe they are used for debugging?

Do you mean the serial port on the PIC?
I acctually had a MAX232 connected to my PIC, but removing it didn't help. You didn't mean the serial port on the PC did you?

Hi there!

So I finally bought me an ICD-U40! Wihaa! Very Happy
But... after sucesfully compiling the example "EX_ICD.C" the debugger downloads it to my 18F452. It comes to 100%, then a window pops ...
