4620/4680 and I2C

Anybody has experience using I2C on the 18F4620/18F4680 ?
As I seem to understand there's some problems with these chips to use their I2C that require some bit-banging ?
Any known workarounds needed/available or this ?
Or are the "errors" already obsolete and reworked with newer chip revisions ?

All answers are welcome since I'm somewhat anxious since not knowing what to expect, it'll be my first I2C project.
