How do I single step?
PostPosted: Sun Mar 15, 2009 5:56 pm     Reply with quote

I just bought a ICD-U40 and need help navigating the new tools.

I ran
ICD Interface Program v2.102
on my custom board
which successfully loads my hex file aok.

Now I don't know what to do next.
Q: How do I run C-AWARE single step.
(I don't even know what that tool is called!!)

Any help appreciated.

FYI, I am using
Vista,
MPLAB v8.1,
CCS PCM v4.5,
PIC16F877A,
ICD-U40

Just to be complete, I will mention the following:
Recently I moved from a win95-desktop to a vista-laptop.
The laptop wouldnt compile.
Kept saying out-of-ram, so in desperation, I moved the entire
c:\program files\PICC directory to my new laptop, which made the error disappear which is good, but now it only compiles once, then hangs so I wont be able to keep this configuration forever. Perhaps I will have to call...

Have I been duped?

Q: Do you have to buy the $350 PCW to do any debugging?

Q: Is that true? I thought just buying the $75 ICD-U40 would give me debugging.

Any suggestions appreciated.

If you're using MPLAB you should have bought the ICD2 or ICD3.
Those debuggers will work with MPLAB. The CCS debugger only works
with their IDE. The lowest cost solution would be to change your
debugger to the ICD2.
