[OT] looking for a battery management IC, to do it all |

Folks,
I would like to post this question here, because you folks have seen a lot in your travels. This is not directly related to PICs and CCS, though.
I’m looking for a battery management IC that would do it all, and without a lot of external circuitry.
- Charge single Li+ cell (linear probably)
- Battery gas gauge (or just a current sensor with analog output)
- A built-in LDO for downstream circuitry would be nice, but I can an add a separate LDO
- Ability to power the system directly from wall adapter when the battery is low (without waiting for the battery to charge) would be nice too.
So far, the only device that came close is STw4102. May be I want too much.
Any suggestion, insight or reference is really appreciated!
Cheers,

Maxim have a lot of nice chips, though you didn't give any indication as to power (current/voltage/time) levels needed or package requirements.
Most mfrs. have powerful online search/fill in the blanks interactive websites. The key is to know major requirements, again output current probably is #1 in the ranking.
Depending on the situation even a PIC will do the job very well (did several designs maybe a decade ago) easy to reprogram the PIC ! |

I second on Maxim.
Linear also makes some neato stuff as well as National Semi.
I always check those 3.. (usually in that order).
