Can you re-program a code protected (locked) PIC?
PostPosted: Fri Sep 16, 2011 10:05 am     Reply with quote

Hi all,

I'm using a PIC16F886, and have a product in production (about 500 units). The code is protected.

I'm wondering if it's possible and/or advisable to reprogram the PIC should one want in the future even though it's protected. You know, in case, I have an update to the software I'd like to implement.

Thanks

All PICs (except those ROM based) can easily be reprogrammed even if 'locked'. The reprogramming function of programmers will erase all data stored in the PIC, making it 'blank' again.
