CCS compiler and Eclipse
PostPosted: Mon Jul 13, 2015 2:11 am     Reply with quote

Hi,
Is it possible to accommodate the CCS compilers to work in Eclipse IDE?
Have somebody tried something like that? May be plug-in to an Eclipse IDE?
Thanks.

You can easily tell Eclipse to compile with the CCS compiler, but the problem is the lack of the other tools. To be a useable 'IDE' you need the debugger, programmer, etc..
Microchip had a 'go' at it, but it rarely works. However it might well be possible to load this. and then just replace the selected compiler with CCS. It may well have improved. There was a 'third party' developer on the Microchip site attempting to offer a better integrated version, and he might be prepared to take the time and add CCS to this.

Have you tried SlickEdit? It's as good as Eclipse
Check this: http://www.ccsinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=48686&highlight=slickedit

Good Luck!

Could you please tell me where can I find information about this integration?
I have integrated IAR toolchain using makefile project in Eclipse. But since I am not aware of CCS toolchain and if there is console build option provided, I am far from this easy integration. I have been searching through the internet how to adapt custom compiler to Eclipse and all of the instances I encountered was making makefile project under C, and then specify build command (otherwise being used in console). I haven't even a clue how to tell the Eclipse to use one of these PCB, PCM, PCH or PCD as custom compiler. Your suggestions for alternative IDEs are very attractive but for some reasons I need to use Eclipse.

Another question: As typical toolchain may include Compiler, Linker, Assembler etc.
What about the CCS toolchain? What is it consisted of?
Thank you all for the answers.

Stackoverflow has a large section on how to add a compiler to Eclipse.

CCS by default is a single pass compiler (compiles directly to output), so there is only a single entry in the toolchain (ccsc.exe). You can tell CCS not to link, and use it also to link separately, but this is unnecessary, and disadvantageous for several reasons (search here for 'why').
