OLED library
PostPosted: Wed Oct 26, 2016 10:44 am     Reply with quote

Hi there!

I am looking for an OLED display (128x64) library which uses an SSD1305 module. I haven't been able to find a working library for my PIC(18F2685).
Does anyone have one?
Do you guys know whether my display will work if I use a code made for an SSD1306?

thanks

I'm looking for a "free lunch"
- and respite from posters
who have showed nothing except
a desire to copy other people's code.
i don't expect that to happen either.

you are welcome

Possibly, even probably, though I'd have to download the datasheets for both the 1305 and the 1306,scan maybe 10-13 pages and make an educated conclusion. However since my HC-12s just arrived, I've got MY toys to play with...

My 'gut' instinct says, yup, it'll work, but won't know 100% until I read the datasheets. Sorry, haven't the time, those HC-12s keep looking at me!

I miss the 'old school days' when we had dataBOOKS handed out by the mfrs and distis, read 1000's of pages to see how to make the 'new' 1602 UART work (eliminates 14 TTL chips !), the COSMAC 1802 (1st CMOS micro), and others....
sigh...

Several changes would be needed, and a lot depends on the actual display.

First the I2C addresses it uses are different.
Then the 1305, supports displays with more levels. Up to 4* the RAM of the 1306 (it can be used with some colour displays). Too much RAM for most PIC's given the standard problem with these controllers that the RAM cannot be read, so the host processor has to carry a copy of what is on the display. On a mono display it might be OK, but will need different configuration values. This will depend on the actual display involved.
