PIC18F27Q43

Hi

I understand that the above PIC is available this month at vendors.
It can be a good replacement for PIC18F26K22 with 5 UART's instead of 2.

Somebody have an idea when CCS will support it?

Ask them.

If a user requests, they will often speed up adding a chip. However remember
the 'caveat' that being first using a chip is a sure way of having lots of
problems....

If you need extra UARTS, it'd be safer to just add I2C<>UARTs. With the new PIC you'll lose 3 I/O pins of the 28,so potentially another peripheral . Also as Mr. T points out new PICs tend to have 'bugs' ,so better to stay with a known PIC.
You could easily add a 'daughter board' to an existing PIC product,BTDT .

What most never factor in when using the 'newest, bestest PIC' is the HUGE amount of R&D time (and $$$) in getting it 'up and running'. Often, it's faster and cheaper to go with your working PIC,making small HW and SW changes.

Looking at it, CCS won't even be able to start on adding it, since
Microchip haven't yet released a data sheet!. The only sheets
available are a partial sheet describing the peripherals but without
technical data, and an overview sheet. Would be very surprised if
it is actually going to release that soon, since normally the full sheet is
published before the actual chip release....
Thinking about it, your supplier may be expecting initial engineering
samples. These usually appear a couple of months before release.

Thank you for the answers and advice.

At Element 14 Singapore they are stating "Awaiting delivery" and I read in an other place that first batch will be available at June 10.
Also the data sheet is as Ttelmah wrote just information "Family Product Brief".

Microchip compiler is ready for the chip, but I don't want to try to learn they compiler as I am used to CCS. This why I asked the question.

I made a few small changes to the board of 3*PIC18F26K22 to be compatible with the PIC18F27Q43, it will cost me $20 for 10 boards including shipment.

Will remain in mean time with the PIC18F26K22 that works fine.
