I just checked their website again... they even have code samples...
good thing is that the sensors are built using PICs so the code should be ease to port to CCS...

1 sensor has no issue on that.. but currently i am trying to use 2 sensors by using 1 PIC... Maybe thats the cause for the problem. Both are analogue somemore. |

With this particular design , you must EXPECT that the reading to reading
error / ambiguity will increase (dramatically) with distance. There are several good physics reasons for this including:
* beam spread /multipath response
* very poor diode "limiting" circuit in receiver section
* path loss
* 10 bit resolution making all of the above worse.
* increasing incidental in-band environmental "chirpy" trash pickup as distance increases and source return fades
it is going to be at its best accuracy, close up, with hard reflecting surfaces, in an otherwise short wave length, sound absorptive environment.
don't expect too much repeatability from reading to reading, as
target distance increases. you will be disappointed if U do
This is a very cheap , and IMHO, sloppy piece of ranging hardware. |

Hello! This is Tom Bonar from MaxBotix Inc.
I saw your forum post, and I want to offer help regarding the use of our MB1010 ultrasonic sensor.

The sensors have an RX pin that can be used to command the sensor to range. If you view this article there is information on commanding the range cycle of the sensor. If you wish to have the sensor range every 3 minutes instead of free-run the RX pin needs to be used to do so. When the RX pin of our sensors is held to a ground, the sensor will remain in a "standby" mode until it is brought high (Vcc level) for a length of time greater than 20uS.
I also saw that Ttelmah had stated information on turning one of the sensors "off" so only one sensor is ranging at a time. This can be done by chaining the sensors together. When the sensors are chained, only one sensor ranges at a time and this will eliminate cross talk between sensors. Information can be found from this link. This is always recommended when operating multiple sensors in the same environment.
The last question I saw while reading your forum post was "It can only works perfectly within the range of 50cm instead of 6meters. " What type of object do you wish to report the range to? With the use of ultrasonic sensors, some targets such as walls can be seen a long distance because they reflect more ultrasonic sound then objects such as people. The MB1010 will report the range to a wall at 6 meters if the wall is perpendicular to the sensor. If the wall is not perpendicular the sensor may not report the range to the wall. Ultrasonic sensors act similarly to a principal of a flashlight and a mirror. If you shine a flashlight into a mirror that isn't facing you, the light will reflect away from the source.
