CCS 5 with Wine (Linux) ?
PostPosted: Thu May 15, 2014 12:19 am     Reply with quote

Hi,

I'm trying to run latest CCS IDE on a Linux Mint Petra, but this is how I see it:

Can compile and it seems to work fine, but some buttons are not visible. Are you able to run it without problems?

Wine version: 1.6.1

The buttons are there, they are enabled, but aren't visible.

on actual Windows as opposed to emulated windows -
it all works a far as i can tell
this is not a CCS problem unless they specifically say they support your environment ..

I must admit I've always run a full 'virtual' Windows (VMWare or Parallels), rather than the compatibility layer. These both run fine. The VMWare Workstation player is free (you need a copy of Windows to install into the player).
I'd suggest running WineTricks, and seeing if that helps (it is supplied as standard with the current version so you may already have done this). A lot of the DLL's this adds are necessary for programs like CCS. The commonest problem with Wine, is the display not being handled right, so 'nothing unexpected here'....

Best Wishes
