can bus spi_xfer problem

Greetings! I'm experiencing problems with spi_xfer command. I'm using PIC18F66J60 and MCP2515 CAN bus interface. I have this problem. If there isn't a node on the line the command can_putd() returns 1. But after a few bites send it blocks on spi_xfer(). Can you tell how I can prevent that?
Do I have to look into the MCP registers after every send package?!

Please refer to your previous thread on this issue. The answers won't change. This is not an SPI issue, its a CAN engine thing.
