Honestly consider uninstalling and reinstalling MPLAB. A completely
'impossible' behaviour like this suggests there is something wrong
with the install.

You never told us what version of MPLAB X you are using.
It turns out there is a bug in version 5.0 that prevents the
user from changing a Watch value:

I tested it in my earlier post with vs. 5.15 and it worked.
