PostPosted: Thu Aug 26, 2004 9:08 am     Reply with quote

Hi, is it possible to drive two rs232 ports on one chip AT THE SAME TIME? that means if one port has to send some data, the other port is already able to receive any other data. such as non-blocking ports? is that possible, and is ther any code for that=? thanx for ur answers...

If one port has a hardware UART it should work fine. If both are software UARTs the CCS functions won't do it. If you are clever it should be possible to write your own that would work.

I would go a step further and say, try to find a PIC with 2 hardware USARTS. Then you get the advantage of two bytes of RX buffer space. 1byte per USART.
