One other thought. Have a PWM drive to the power drives, and turn this down to a very low percentage when stationary. This will give a small current, and a little 'hold' torque to prevent accidental movement.

Hi
Is there any site or books from which I can do my mathematical calculation to find out the required torque for my application.

Overly polite

This design is a mis-application of a stepper where a worm drive is needed, or at the very least a geared motor. How to compute torque? Wikepedia? Dictionary? Anyplace?

I'm astounded by the politeness of the working engineers on this forum who are being asked to redesign ill-conceived hobby projects.

Buy a book, maybe? Civil Engineer's Handbook is a good one, Mark's is good, although any high school physics text has the answer for you ...

We save our hostility for our bosses who actually pay us money to give them grief.

sharing of knowledge

I agree with SherpaDoug and besides why are you commenting on such an old post??

If you have knowledge on a particular topic then share it, if you don't want to share it then at least keep quiet!! Not everybody on this forum is qualified in all aspects of engineering and that is why they ask people on this forum.

Yes you can go and read a book on a topic, but it sometimes helps to ask a professional a question and get a concise answer rather spend days researching a topic.

Only people whom feel "threatened" or "insecure" do not share what they have learnt/ know!!
