Debugging issues
PostPosted: Tue Oct 23, 2007 4:19 pm     Reply with quote

Hi,

I have developed my own development board. I can program the device 18F4520 and everything works fine.

But when i try to enter debug mode. i get the following error.

Could not start target: The target was not halted after reset Check the target oscillator and MCLR. Make sure the target clock match the clock fuse and that the target is oscillating. Used View|Valid fuses to find the correct clock fuse

I only use MCLR, PGD,PGC and Supply. DO i have to use PGM or do anything to that pin?

Please comment on this if any one has come across the same issue.

THank you,
Vamsi

Look in the CCS ICD Diagnostics guide:
http://www.ccsinfo.com/downloads/ccs_icd_trblsht.pdf
For at Target Connect problem, start on page 9. Then maybe do page 10.

Also, in the CCS Forum Index, there is a Hardware Forum where you will find a General
discussion about debuggers and programmers (ICD-S, ICD-U, Mach-X, etc) where you
will find a lot of info regarding this issue.
